SOLUTION
A Guide for Providers taught me about patient rights and healthcare providers’ constraints on using and disclosing protected health information. Patients can request corrections to erroneous or incomplete medical records. Providers must follow HIPAA rules to protect patient privacy and confidentiality. The workshop on HIPAA and You: Building a Culture of Compliance stressed the importance of strong HIPAA policies and processes in healthcare businesses (Kayaalp, 2018). Data security, access controls, encryption, and team member training should be covered in policies. To promote compliance, PHI handling, breach response, and monitoring reporting must be documented.
