Your submission must be your original work. Five-Year Professional Development Plan
Short-Term, Intermediate, and Long-Term Goals:
My short-term goals: To finish my degree here at WGU. My goal is to complete the program
by May of 2025 but may be able to complete it sooner. Another goal of mine within the next year
is to join the shared governance group at my job. I just started a new job at Baptist Health and
want to be more involved with education there. I think it is important for me as a nurse to
become more involved with policy and nurse empowerment.
My intermediate goal:
Start a PMHMP program by January of 2028 here at WGU. I want to
take a hiatus from school so I can focus more on my job and family until 2028.
My long-term goal is: Finish up the Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner program here at WGU. The
program takes two and a half years to complete, and I will have around six months remaining at
this time. Another long-term goal of mine long-term is to be involved in leadership in some
capacity with my job by January 2030. I would also like to become certified to teach BLS by
2030.
Current Certificates or Certifications Requirements:
I am currently certified in ACLS, PALS, BLS, and NIHHS. ACLS is Advanced Cardiac Life
support by the American Heart Association. For healthcare professionals who either direct or
participate in managing cardiopulmonary arrest or other cardiovascular emergencies and for
personnel in emergency response (ACLS, n.d.). ACLS is a 4-hour hands-on training with an
exam and 4–6-hour online training with an exam.
