Community Health Systems is a non-profit health services organization having its headquarters in Nashville, Tennessee, and operates as the main health care referral center for the rural Smalltown, situated in the Midwest, and several adjacent counties. Community Health was established in the 1950s and is currently the biggest employer in the region, embracing more than 500 employees. Its mission is to increase access to high-quality health care for all residents of the included region, regardless of their income. Community Health has three ultimate corporate objectives in its corporate planning model (Colvin et al., 2020). First, it seeks to have more patients in a year to be of service to the healthcare profession in that area. Due to the organization’s target clientele comprising a geographically and demographically distant, primarily elderly population, an unrelenting throughput is properly necessary for the organization’s fiscal viability.

Second, the CH strategic goals aim to offer more treatment solutions in the future years under the same facility. Some of the new service lines added in the last few years are the expansion of physical therapy, imaging, and more specialty clinics within the building. The last corporate objective is to ensure its firm has stable and sustainable profitability by managing its finances well. Excess money raised by a charitable organization is always invested back into the recipient’s facilities, gear, and services. Community Health’s major clients are the residents of the population catchment area, which according to the latest census is estimated to be 50,000 people. Demographically, its customer base is families, elder people, low-income populations, and rural farming populations dispersed all over this area. Aging customers make up the biggest proportion, at 30% of the total customers of Community Health. A considerable number of patients, approximately forty percent, have health insurance via Medicare and/or Medicaid since the average wage levels remain inadequate and the rate of unemployment remains high across the region. Focusing on its diverse customer base since there are practically no other healthcare facilities around, Community Health intends to serve all the stakeholders’ interests.
